Doha, Qatar 11 August 2012: Domopan Qatar WLL, one of Qatar’s leading engineering solutions companies with construction and industrial divisions, recently had its manufacturing facility awarded with the Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB) certification for their locally-made fiber gypsum boards, ‘DomoGypsum.’  The LPCB certification recognizes the product’s ability to meet two-hour fire resistivity standards.

Not only would this signify that a Qatari product can now be sold in the European market, but DomoGypsum now also meets the Qatar Civil Defense Department’s new stringent specifications for gypsum paneling.  In addition to being manufactured in Domopan’s own ISO-certified factory in Qatar, the boards are regularly tested abroad to ensure that quality is not compromised.

“We are extremely pleased at being awarded this recognition,” said Marlon Dizon, Domopan’s gypsum plant manager. “In light of recent events that have taken place in Qatar, the subject of fire safety is on everyone’s mind, and rightfully so.  Not only do our DomoGypsum boards meet the requirements for heat resistance, but also exceed them.”

The LPCB certification, in addition to confirming the two-hour fire resistance of the boards, also speaks of the due diligence and quality control that the company practices in producing their boards.   Combined with the fact that the products are manufactured here in Qatar at Domopan’s New Industrial Area factory (thus avoiding long shipping times and other problems associated with supply problems overseas), developers can be rest assured that they are using high-quality products that are competitively priced as compared to other manufacturers.  Moreover, DomoGypsum is currently approved by Qatar’s General Administration of Civil Defense at the Ministry of Interior and the Qatar Civil Defense Department’s approval for two-hour fire resistivity.

“Many of our clients are often shocked to learn that fire-rated gypsum boards are being produced right here in Qatar; they often have to import similar products from abroad,” explained Dizon.  “Currently, the demand for fire-resistance boards has also  increased dramatically, especially now since safety specifications for building structures are under review.  Therefore, DomoGypsum is positioned to be the ideal product for designers and contractors:  certified, affordable, and -since it is produced locally – available at short notice.”

DomoGypsum has proven very popular in the market already and has been used in Qatar’s landmark projects such as the RasGas Headquarters, Souq Waqif Hotel, Al Jassimiyah Tower along the corniche, the Pearl’s Porto Arabia townhouses, and the Mathaf (Arab Museum of Modern Art).

Domopan secures two multi-million riyal construction deals

• HQ for Qatar Scouts and Guides Association and new Al Khor Housing Project added to Domopan’s ever-growing portfolio

Doha, Qatar April 2012: Domopan Qatar WLL, one of Qatar’s leading construction companies, has clinched two new construction contracts, with a total value of 110 million Qatari riyals. These awarded bids are part of what has become Domopan’s on-going tradition of winning high profile construction contracts in its short history in Doha.

“We are more than delighted to win these contracts,” said Domopan General Manager. “Our bids could not have been won without the dedication and perseverance of the entire Domopan family. As proven by these contracts, Domopan continues to strive to offer the best quality services at the most competitive prices, and we look forward to being rewarded with even more lucrative contracts in the future.”

One of the contracts is a 30 million riyal deal to build the new headquarters for the Qatar Scouts and Guides Association in Ain Khaled. The three-story administrative building also includes a state-of-the-art auditorium and cinema, and was designed by Domopan’s partners Diwan Architects, Engineers, and Planners.

The second project – the larger of the two – is an 80 million riyal venture involving the construction of medium to luxurious apartment buildings to accommodate oil workers and their families in Al Khor. The project also includes infrastructure works, such as roads, landscaping, parking, and so forth. The ‘Al Khor Housing Project’ was awarded on behalf of the project owner, the Qatar Real Estate Investment Company (Al Aqariya).

The housing deal comes at the heels of Domopan’s previous announcement in late 2011 of winning a 130 million riyal turn-key project in Al Khor, also on behalf of Al Aqariya, to construct 16 three-storey apartment buildings, as well as all related infrastructure, landscaping, reclamation works, and recreational facilities.

“We are proud to play a crucial role in Qatar’s public and private development,” continued Domopan General Manager. “Even though we only launched our activities just over four years ago, our name has become synonymous with quality and competitiveness in the Qatari marketplace. We will, of course, continue to deliver excellence in these two projects and all future projects that we are rewarded.”

Domopan ensures successful projects with full contract management training

Training in Oracles’s Primavera Contract Management (PCM) increases efficiency and cuts costs

Doha, Qatar 23 January 2012: Engineers and managers at Domopan Qatar WLL, one of Qatar’s leading engineering solutions companies, have recently completed personalized corporate training in Oracle’s Primavera Contract Management, state-of-the-art software that streamlines processes related to construction projects. The course was held over the last three months, and offered by Oracle’s representative in Qatar, CMCS. Domopan has preempted the construction industry’s general contractors by adopting PCM.

“Professional development is a key cornerstone in our business plan,” explained the General Manager of DOMOPAN. “Not only will individuals at Domopan benefit from this comprehensive training course, but so does the client and the company at large. Essentially, we can control every aspect of our projects conveniently, all through one piece of software. PCM has become a must for government related jobs.”

The adoption of PCM on a company-wide level has reassured Domopan’s government clients of its professionalism plus its dedication to successful project execution and handing over. Oracle's Primavera Contract Management is a document management, job cost, and field controls software solution that ensures that construction projects stay on schedule while simultaneously keeping the budget under control. Because construction involves the collaboration of a multitude of different staff – from managers, engineers, to suppliers and owners, and so forth – Primavera allows a virtual platform where all the different entities can effortlessly and efficiently communicate.

“A large part of our success as a relatively new company to enter the market is our adherence to stringent quality standards that we have set for ourselves,” added the General Manager. “Primavera offers us a qualitative edge in the Qatari construction sector and a peace of mind to our clients who know that we will implement their projects efficiently and cost-effectively.”

Domopan clinches multi-million riyal construction deal

• Project in Al Khor to provide additional housing for oil industry workers
• Development evidence that “confidence in Qatari real-estate market remains steadfast”

Doha, Qatar November 2011: Domopan Qatar WLL, one of Qatar’s leading engineering solutions companies, has been awarded a contract from the Qatar Real Estate Investment Company (Al Aqaria) to develop a plot in Al Khor for housing the city’s workers in the hydrocarbon sector and their families. The deal, worth close to a 130 million riyals, is a turn-key project and involves the construction of 16 three-storey apartment buildings, as well as all related infrastructure, landscaping, and reclamation works.

“We are more than ecstatic at being awarded the contract,” said Domopan spokesperson “We have only been operational in the local market for a little over four years, and yet we have managed to win this project, even at the face of intense competition from major local and international players. This would not have been possible without the talented, professional, and innovative staff at Domopan that have worked day and night to ensure that we won this deal.”

The contract, entitled ‘Al Khor Housing Project Zone 14 and 15’ will see an effective built-up area of 36,000 sqm on a 42,000 sqm plot. In addition to the apartments, recreational areas, such as tennis courts, will also be built. At the projects completion, over 1000 residents are expected to call this area home.

“We consider Domopan to be at the forefront of the construction industry in Qatar,” continued the Domopan spokesperson. “We have three ISO certificates, a sophisticated project management system that ensures that projects are done on time, and staff that we have hired from all over the Gulf from other major construction companies. It comes as no surprise then that in the course of a few short years, we have over 450 million riyals of real-estate projects under our belt. Moreover, each one was delivered on or ahead of time, with no penalties accrued on the company.”

This contract is one of three contracts that Al Aqaria is expected to award in the coming year for similar projects in Al Khor. These developments, in addition to real-estate projects that are being undertaken all over the country, are proof of the strength of Qatar’s real-estate sector.

“This project is testament that confidence in the Qatari real-estate market remains steadfast, ”he concluded. “We are confident of the growth that this sector will see over the coming years, and we look forward of playing even a greater role in Qatar’s development and growth.”

Domopan fiber-gypsum boards takes market by storm

Company first to offer locally made boards to the Qatari market

Doha, Qatar 15 October 2011: Domopan Qatar WLL, one of Qatar’s leading construction and industrial houses, is offering locally-manufactured fiber gypsum boards (‘DomoGypsum’) for the first time in the country. Domopan brought in Italian experts to launch and erect the manufacturing plant. The Qatari factory located in the New Industrial Area with similar factories in Italy, UAE, KSA, and Oman.

The ISO and CE certified manufacturing process added to the quality of the eco friendly boards which have proved to be hugely popular in country for their durability and competitive pricing. Prestigious projects in Qatar Foundation, Ras Gas, Pearl Island and many other locations have incorporated Domopan Fiber Gypsum Boards as the solution for their high quality internal partitions.

“Qatar has become the real estate developer’s dream,” said the General Manager of Domopan. “With projects sprouting all over the country to ready Qatar for the 2022 World Cup, we believed it was prudent to start producing regularly used construction material here in the county. Not only does the fiber gypsum board meet stringent international standards, but the fact they are manufactured here makes them significantly more competitively priced than the imported boards. Having our manufacturing facility and team here in Doha has made us a first-choice for both consultants and contractors in Qatar, who have long suffered from supply-chain and communication problems with manufacturers based outside of Qatar.”

The DomoGypsum boards are simple to install, and flexible enough to be adapted to most architectural needs. In addition, the boards also have the following specifications:

• Fire resistant (2 hrs as per Qatar Civil Defense)
• Acoustically insulated up to 62 db (tested & certified in New Zealand)
• Water Resistant
• Light Weight
• Eliminates Need for Plastering
• Fiber reinforced – eco friendly

The product is also paint-friendly and hassle-free to install.

“Customers in Qatar have already been using this product for some time,” explained DOMOPAN’s General Manager. “DomoGypsum has been installed in numerous prestigious projects including the Museum of Modern Arab Art, the Qatar Financial Center, Ras Gas Headquarters, Jassimiyah Tower, Porto Arabia Pearl Townhouses, Souq Waqif Hotel and the Salwa Resort Hotel. DomoGypsum has also been introduced on to the preferred vendor list for certain projects in the NDIA (New Doha International Airport).”

DomoGypsum is approved by Qatar’s General Administration of Civil Defense at the Ministry of Interior and recognized for its high resistance to heat. In addition to being manufactured in Domopan’s own ISO-certified factories, the boards are regularly tested abroad to ensure that quality is not compromised.
